Shine local: Christmas in your neighbourhood

Keen to keep it local this Christmas? Here’s how to support your local business precincts, and share the love with nearby neighbourhoods across the City of Melbourne.

Christmas in the city: Explore epic Christmas Festival events across the CBD. Look for the Roving Drag Santa in Degraves Street and nearby laneways on 3 and 4 December. Get in quick to book your place in a new series of Christmas Film Photowalks from 4 to 8 December or take a Look Draw Love Melbourne walking tour on Saturday 10 December.

Roller Rink giveaways in Carlton: Look for Italian Christmas biscuit giveaways and roving performers at the Christmas Roller Rink, and gift vouchers for iconic Carlton shops. From 10 to 24 December.

Kensington Christmas Fair: Live music on the main stage at the Kensington Christmas Fair, free activities, performers, magicians, face painting, food and gift stalls, giveaways and Santa. Saturday 3 December in Bellair Street from 10am to 4pm.

Little Korea Christmas Festival: Korean culture and street food, with market stalls, music and decorations. Little Korea Christmas Festival on Sunday 18 December in Little Lonsdale Street and Healeys Lane from 11am to 5pm.

Christmas in North and West Melbourne: Enjoy choirs, buskers, giveaways and roving Christmas characters on the festive streets of North and West Melbourne. Look for Santa in a fire truck. Enter the Christmas raffle, go late-night shopping and enjoy free gift-wrapping.

Family Christmas Evening in South Wharf: Family carols concert and a film screening of The Grinch on the Common Lawn on Dukes Walk in South Wharf. Sunday 18 December from 5pm to 8pm.

Gift-wrapping on Collins Street: Get your gifts wrapped at a pop-up in Howey Place. From 10am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays before Christmas, starting 8 December.

Great Greek Quarter Christmas Feast: Join the Great Greek Quarter Christmas Feast. Music, performers and Greek treats from local venues. Waratah Place and Heffernan Lane, all afternoon on Sunday 18 December.

Twilight markets in Docklands: Stock up on stocking-fillers at the District Docklands Twilight Christmas Market on 10 December from 3pm to 8pm. And at the Docklands Christmas Party in Newquay Promenade on 17 December from midday to 8pm.
