Entrepreneurs at the peak of their powers are ready to serve the good people of Melbourne. See what it’s like to run a small business in the city.

Small business owners and startups add colour and movement to iconic streets and precincts in Melbourne. They also keep the city humming.

Do you know a business that’s been running in the City of Melbourne for more than 10 years, or deserves acknowledgement for their services to the city?

Nominate your favourite local business for the Lord Mayor’s Small Business Awards before Friday 29 April 2022.

We’ve refreshed the program this year, giving it a new name and added a new category, Small Business of the Year. And small businesses that have run in the city for 10 years or more can apply for an Achievement Award.

Alchemy is underway in laneways. A whole precinct is dedicated to Italian good times. Conversations about slow fashion unfurl in flagship shopfronts.

Meet a few of the city’s brilliant local businesses and get a sense of how we’ve supported their passion projects as they start, run and expand in Melbourne.
