Business events grants

28 October 2021

We have offered $100,000 in grants to bring business events back to the city.

Our Business Events Sponsorship program is delivering grants of up to $10,000 and in-kind support for conferences, exhibitions and networking events.

Lord Mayor Sally Capp said business events are a critical part of our economy.

‘Prior to the pandemic, around 14 million entrepreneurs, executives and future leaders descended on Melbourne each year, so I encourage all business event organisers to apply for a grant,’ the Lord Mayor said.

Applicants needed to demonstrate their commitment to deliver COVID-safe events to entice professionals back to the CBD.

Business and Global Opportunities portfolio lead Councillor Kevin Louey said that Council wants to bring the business community back to stimulate economic growth in Melbourne.

‘While we have become accustomed to Zoom meetings, there is nothing better for innovation and networking than meeting up in person, and the flow on effect to other industries is significant,’ Cr Louey said.

Applications for Business Events Sponsorship are now closed. To browse more resources and support, visit Business.
